 What is menstruation?

Also known as periods or menstrual cycle is a time when blood and mucus is discharged through vagina. This happens when egg isn’t fertilized resulting in the breaking of menstrual lining which breaks and sheds through vagina. Menstruations starts between the age of 12 to 15 years.

Menstrual cycle consists of 4 phases:

Menstrual phase: This is the first phase of menstrual cycle when women bleed from 3 to 7 days.

But when pregnancy doesn’t takes place the corpus luteum shrinks leading to decreased levels of estrogen and progesterone that leads to menstruation.
