| The
Source Of Micronized Progesterone
Micronized Progesterone is obtained from a plant source (from Mexican
yam roots).
Micronization process enables rapid absorption of natural compound, so
that adequate concentrations appear in blood. Decreasing the particle
size (less than 10 micron) with micronization increases dissolution and
increases the bioavailability.
NT-NATAL MP (natural micronized progesterone)
supplementation is not known to have any side effects or metabolic ill
effects. NT-NATAL MP (natural micronized progesterone)
combines with progesterone receptor sites, and elicits biological effects
without the undesirable effects that are seen with the synthetic forms.
When progesterone is administered orally, it is metabolized extensively
in the gut and liver. This historic observation had led to the misconception
that progesterone is not bioavailable via the oral route. However, micronization
process enables rapid absorption of the natural compound, such that adequate
concentrations appear in blood. Decreasing the particle size with micronization
increases dissolution and coating the progesterone with lipids increases
its bioavailability and enhances absorption. The commercial availability
of such oral micronized progesterone compounds avoids the necessity of
using synthetic progestogens.
